Overview

Debra Mastrian obtained summary judgment in favor of a financial institution. She successfully defended the financial institution against claims brought by former employee for age discrimination and retaliation in violation of federal law. After thorough investigation and contentious discovery, the former employee dropped her age discrimination claim. On the retaliation claim, we successfully established that the former employee’s complaints did not constitute protected activity and therefore the district court granted summary judgment in the clients favor. We also were aggressive in pursuing counterclaims under state law against the former employee for civil and criminal conversion by refusing to return bank documents and breach of the Indiana Trade Secret Act.
