Overview

Debra Mastrian served as co-counsel representing a life insurance company in successfully defending against a lawsuit brought by the beneficiary of a million dollar policy after benefits were denied under the policy’s suicide exclusion. The beneficiary filed the case in state court. We moved the case to federal court, filed a motion for summary judgment  and the district court agreed that the provision in the insurance policy was unambiguous, valid and enforceable.  We successfully defended the judgment on appeal to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
