Dan Whiston and his wife Melanie were recently recognized as Kane County Everyday Heroes for 2016 by the Kane County Chronicle. They were also featured in an article by the publication titled, “Helping find treatment: Daniel and Melanie Whiston found Where There’s A Will There’s A Cure.” For the last few years the Kane County Chronicle has recognized people in the community for the work they do to give back. This year they recognized Dan and Melanie for their efforts to fund research for Myotubular Myopathy (MTM).

Dan and Melanie are the proud parents of Juliet and William. When William was born, he was diagnosed with MTM, which weakens muscles and affects motor skills. Dan and Melanie started Where There’s A Will There’s A Cure in order to raise funds for MTM research and treatment development. "There were no treatments when we started, and we’re now at the doorstep of two clinical trials,” Dan says in the article. The couple’s contribution to finding treatment and their courageous efforts make them everyday heroes.
