Overview
Ruth puts 110 percent into any project she handles for a client. Successfully resolving matters in and out of the courtroom since 1991, Ruth has led matters to verdict in seven northwest Illinois counties. She has handled more than 60 arbitration hearings, numerous bench trials, and dozens of dispositive motions with favorable resolutions.
Currently, Ruth handles general litigation matters, including breach of contract, contested probate matters, guardianship cases, and decedent estates. Her services also extend to the agribusiness industry. In addition to counseling on general liability matters, she is experienced at representing clients facing issues in renewable energy option/lease negotiations (wind and solar), drainage disputes, land use and contract disputes, utility easements (pipeline, high voltage lines, and cell towers), family farm estate and trust disputes, agricultural spills, and crop damage matters.
In addition to litigation, Ruth is a skilled arbitrator and mediator. She arbitrates binding cases for the Winnebago County Mandatory Arbitration Program.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ruth was a practicing critical care nurse.
Outside of the office, Ruth devotes her time to hiking, yardwork, native plant gardening, Eastern Bluebird nest box monitoring, bird watching, and feral cat rescuing. She participates in the Audubon Society’s annual Christmas and spring bird counts.
