Defended Family-Owned Automotive Group Against Attempt to Unionize

Overview

Our labor team was retained to defend our client, a large family-owned automotive group, against an attempt to organize the auto maintenance employees at the company’s Hyundai dealership in Hazelwood, Missouri. We handled the company’s campaign, preparing all campaign materials, as well as engaging and overseeing a labor consultant to directly address employees. IAM is a large and influential union in the St. Louis area, representing not only auto technicians at competing dealerships, but also large portions of the city’s aviation/aerospace workers.  We were successful in the election, prevailing by a decisive margin. The election win helps give our client a distinct advantage in the market for auto technician services, as many other shops in their immediate area have unionized workforces. The results of the election were certified by the National Labor Relations Board.
