We assisted clients with regulatory and compliance issues, paired them with security and point of sale / inventory partners, counseled them on how to maximize their chances of earning a license, and assisted them in preparation of their applications. The clients all earned the maximum possible points based on their position, location, staffing, and organizational makeup.
Amundsen Davis defended municipality against retirees claims of breach of contract and violations of the Illinois Insurance Code, U.S. Constitution Equal Protection clause, and Illinois Constitution Pension Protection clause relating to its health insurance for retirees.
Amundsen Davis successfully defended a national restaurant franchisor in a discrimination lawsuit after the plaintiff alleged that the franchise location he was operating was treated differently and that he was denied the opportunity to expand to his preferred locations because of his race. After a three week trial, the jury returned a not guilty verdict after deliberating for only 40 minutes.
Amundsen Davis defended restaurant against delivery drivers’ claims of misclassification and unpaid overtime, wages and expenses under the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act (IWPCA).
Prosecuted over $5 million commercial property tax refund through the Missouri State Tax Commission for Gaming Company involving $600 million casino development.
Amundsen Davis successfully defended an insurance company in an underinsured motorist lawsuit, where the plaintiff asked the jury for $3.9 million. The plaintiff had prior traumatic injuries, pre-existing conditions, and was in a severe accident subsequent to the auto accident. After a ten day trial, the jury awarded $180,000 to the plaintiff, which was approximately half the cost of her past medical bills. The amount awarded by the jury was subject to a $100,000 setoff, reducing the plaintiff’s award to approximately $80,000.
Amundsen Davis defended a wholesaler and distributor before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Amundsen Davis earned a defense verdict in a four-day retrial of a gender discrimination case where the plaintiff alleged she was passed up for a promotion at a large shipping company because of her gender.
